Title: Joint Meeting with BAESG: New Applications of Industrial Ergonomics

EHS Professionals are often challenged on how to prevent musculoskeletal disorders for their employees who work in an industrial setting.  Applying ergonomics to your industrial workforce requires considerations to the ever changing nature of the work and physical demands of the task. In the presentation, attendees will learn about the factors to consider, potential tools that can be used, and strategies that can be implemented to improve the ergonomics of industrial settings.  Guidance will be provided on an effective approach to evaluate job tasks and work spaces This ergonomics presentation will equip EHS professionals with the knowledge to inform and assist workers with managing the risks and improving the safety associated with completing tasks.

Presented by: Scott Dillon & Surabhi Kadam, both of BSI (formerly EORM)

Scott Dillon is a Consulting Specialist with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology emphasizing human factors and ergonomics. He specializes in workplace ergonomics and construction safety. In his previous roles, he has consulted for international railways and provided safety assessments for engineering and construction firms.  Scott has refined his experience in safety and applied it to the discipline of ergonomics in order to prevent workplace injuries, minimize risk, and improve employee efficiency with comprehensive ergonomic assessments, developing and administering onsite ergonomics training, and ergonomics program management. He has also redesigned the college classroom using ergonomic principles, developed original presentations on ergonomics and safety, and performed high level ergonomics evaluations for a wide array of clients in biopharmaceutical, technology, and hospital industries.

Surabhi Kadam is an Associate Consultant at BSI. Her academic background is in Kinesiology with a specialization in Ergonomics from the University of Waterloo in Canada. She has ergonomics experience in various industries completing ergonomic risk assessments in the office, lab and industrial settings, providing training and managing clients’ Ergonomics programs. In doing so, she aims to enable clients to manage occupational risks, prevent or minimize injuries, improve wellness and optimize organizational productivity and efficiency.
